Site Testing & Grading Plan
Challenge: The site selected for an office building was previously filled with an unknown spoil material, which proved to be an incinerator waste product. A low level concentration of various metals required that the fill be removed before the site could be developed as desired. Several hundred cubic yards of material required removal.
Solutions: Small shallow test holes were advanced across the site on a predetermined spacing and an isopach contour map of the waste was prepared for the earthwork contractor to plan his efforts. Additionally, GGE prepared a site grading plan that minimized the amount of clean borrow soil that had to be imported.
Results: The construction cost was controlled to an acceptable level and the finished project is a pleasant, environmentally responsible addition to the neighborhood.
